Below are the details for each of these sessions Session 1 October 20, 2023 (9am – 10am) 1 CE Virtual Presentation Speaker: Kari Cherelus RDH, DA This event is sponsored by: According to the World Health Organization, burnout syndrome is a result of chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed. Dental care providers suffer from burnout at an alarming rate. Dental care providers who suffer from burnout may deliver less than satisfactory patient care due to their overwhelming stress level. This interactive discussion will provide an overview on how to identify burnout and successfully implement strategies to overcome the damaging effects. About the Speaker Kari Cherelus is a public speaker, consultant, and an author with twenty one years of experience as a healthcare provider. Kari knows firsthand how working in a hostile work environment can contribute to the feeling of burnout, negatively effecting ones overall health and confidence. She authored the book The Ultimate Guide for Dental Hygienist Burnout to help dental hygienists in all stages of their career. Kari uses her platform as Founder of KMC Strategic Solutions to help improve work culture in teams and organizations as well as to coach individuals. Kari endeavors to help fellow colleagues suffering from burnout, hostile work environments, and improve work cultures in organizations to help retain and support employees. Kari helps others to rediscovering their passion by realigning and empowering themselves to make positive changes in their lives. Session 2 October 20, 2023 (10:15am – 12:15pm) 2 CE Virtual Presentation Speaker: Sandra Stuhr, DMD, MS “The Missing Piece: Decoding the Newest Periodontal Classification System and the Aggressive Periodontitis Puzzle” This program will provide a brief overview of the 2017 AAP/EFP World Workshop Classification for Periodontal and Peri-Implant Diseases and Conditions, with a focus on diagnosis and treatment of Molar/Incisor Pattern Grade C (formerly known as aggressive periodontitis) using clinical cases. Course objectives: · Discuss the most updated periodontal and peri-implant classification, including “Grey Zone” areas · Learn primary and secondary features of Molar/Incisor Pattern Grade C periodontitis (MIP-C) · Identify diagnostic approaches and treatment options for MIP-C patients based on the existing classification · Discuss case presentations of non-surgical and surgical management, and future directions About the Speaker Sandra Stuhr, DMD, MS is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Periodontics at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, which is her area of clinical practice. Her research publications involve soft tissue biology and wound healing, dimensional changes after tooth extraction, and aggressive forms of periodontitis.
