Alpena to Zilwaukee: A Symposium on the Affordable Care Act’s Coverage Expansions in MI

U-M Michigan League Ballroom 911 N. University Ave., Ann Arbor, MI, United States

Date: Thursday, March 26 Time: 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. Location: U-M Michigan League Ballroom, 911 N. University Ave., Ann Arbor, MI 48109 Free and open to the public, but registration is required. In 2014, the Affordable Care Act’s health insurance coverage provisions were implemented in Michigan—the health insurance marketplace for individuals seeking coverage and the Healthy Michigan Plan, the state’s expanded Medicaid program. Enrollment in both far exceeded forecasts. The Center for Healthcare Research and Transformation (CHRT), in partnership with the University of Michigan Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation (IHPI) and the School of Public Health, will bring together panels of stakeholders—including health care and business leaders, health policy experts, and state government officials—to discuss the coverage impacts of the ACA in Michigan. Panelists will explore how access to care is changing in Michigan in light of these new coverage opportunities, discuss how businesses and insurers are engaging in a changing marketplace, and examine the financial and delivery system impacts of expanded coverage in the state.
