Chelsea Holladay, RDH "Honduras Mission 2013" In July 2013, Chelsea spent two weeks traveling in the mountains of Honduras providing dental care to local families on a medical mission trip consisting of 22 members. Together, they treated over 4,000 people! Chelsea will share her first outreach experience with photos and stories. Bring your kleenex, it will be a tear-jerker! Regular meeting courses are free for members of ADHA, ADAA, ADA and are only $20 per hour for non-members. Regular meetings will be held at Dr. Faust's building, 5238 W St Joseph Hwy, Lansing, MI 48917 unless otherwise indicated. **New time schedule! Doors open at 5:45. COURSE OBJECTIVES: Define the short and long term goals of nonsurgical periodontal therapy. Explain the limitations of calculus removal and the expectations for clinician proficiency. Discuss the advantages and limitations of manual and ultrasonic instrumentation. Select advanced instruments that are appropriate for root instrumentation. Explain the indications and use of antimicrobial adjuncts to nonsurgical therapy, including patient products for home care. Describe the maintenance protocol for implant patients. Recognize the implant failure and other complications related to implant care. Evaluate the dental hygienist's role in the treatment of the periodontal patient.
