Legislative Luncheon
Dear MDHA Member, Your professional Association requests the honor of your presence and cordially invites you to attend the 21st Annual MDHA Legislative Luncheon. It will be held Tuesday May 9th, 2017, 11:30am until 1:30pm at the House Office Building, Mackinac Room (corner of Ottawa and Capitol in Lansing, MI). Please join us for this MDHA tradition, expected and honored by legislators, who want to hear from you, their constituent. It’s fun, free and lunch is included. Remember you are the expert! A one hour continuing education program will be presented from 10:00-11:00am by, Sarah Hubbard from Acuitas, MDHA’s lobbying firm. If you have not attended this resourceful program, we encourage you to plan on joining us. Farmington Hills, MI 48334 248-553-0300 6-8:30Pm 2 CE Jill Loewen, CDA, RDA, MS, CTTS Jill Loewen, CDA, RDA, MS, CTTS is a clinical associate professor and full-time faculty member at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. She joined the University in March, 2001. Jill serves as Project Coordinator for the Tobacco Use Prevention and Treatment Program at the dental school. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Allied Health Education and a Master of Science Degree in Career and Technical Education from Ferris State University. She is a Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist and is past Chair of the American Dental Education Association’s Section on Substance Abuse, Addictions and Tobacco Dependence Education. Her teaching responsibilities at the school include teaching dental and dental hygiene students and residents how to help their patients stop using tobacco. Jill has provided numerous local, state, and national continuing education courses on Tobacco Dependence Treatment topics and has conducted table clinics, exhibits and poster presentations on tobacco use prevention and education. She is the author of several publications. COURSE OBJECTIVES: Describe non-traditional nicotine and chemical containing products misuse and current trends, including e-cigarettes/vaporizers, hookah, bidi, kretek, khat and others Identify the oral and overall health effects of nicotine product misuse Define your role in addressing nicotine product misuse as a dental health provider Describe steps involved for helping dental patients stop nicotine product misuse Utilize resources for helping patients stop the misuse of nicotine products *** Farmington Hills Community Library *** 5:30 – 6:00PM Registration, Refreshments and Announcements 6:00PM – 8:30 Presentation 2 CE ADHA Members: FREE DDS: $10 Non-Members: $10 This fee is to cover cost the of the room rental and refreshments.
