Dental Hygienist/ Contractual

Seeking a part-time, contractual, as-needed, organized, detailed oriented, pragmatic, and collaborative dental hygienist to join the Community Health team based in our Crawford/Kalkaska/Manistee/Mason/Missaukee OR Wexford County Office.

General Responsibilities
• District Health Department #10 is accepting applications for Registered Dental Hygienists (RDHs) to join as-needed float pool of RDHs.
• The position is temporary with variable hours, no benefits, and will be based in any of the following counties: Crawford, Kalkaska, Manistee, Mason, Missaukee, or Wexford.
• Dental Hygienists promote oral hygiene and provide appropriate preventive services to school aged children, which may include oral health assessments, sealants/sealant checks, and documentation of the current clinical condition and recommend treatment to provide the appropriate level of clinical care.
• Typical work hours would be during the school day Monday through Friday, located in schools or in the community as part of a mobile clinic setting.
• This position is ideal for a candidate looking to utilize their expertise as an RDH with the flexibility to choose the day(s) they work and has a passion to provide preventive services to address gaps in oral health care in their community.
• Any travel outside of the base county will be in the candidate’s personal vehicle on work time with mileage paid by DHD#10 at the current federal reimbursement rate.
• This is a contractual, as-needed position.

Minimum Requirements
• Associate’s Degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited dental hygiene school.
• Current dental hygiene license to practice in the State of Michigan.
• Ability to perform all dental hygienist job responsibilities consistent with accepted professional practices and standards, in compliance with applicable state and federal law.
• Knowledge of the compliance aspects of clinical care, patient privacy and best practices for oral health.
• Communication skills necessary to interact appropriately with students, parents, school staff, co-workers, and the public.
