FAQs

Why should I join the Michigan Dental Hygienists’ Association (MDHA)?
MDHA is your organization for personal and professional growth.

As a member, you are provided with exclusive membership services. [PDF] Call us when you have questions about practice, legislative issues, continuing education or association activities. In addition, you have legislative representation on a national and state level.

Do I have to belong to American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) if I want to belong to MDHA?
When you join MDHA, you also become part of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association and your local component. We encourage new members to attend local component meetings to network with other registered dental hygienists.   It is important to have professional relationships with colleagues from outside your work setting.   After your application is processed, you will receive the name and phone number of your component president. Please call her/him to find out your chapter’s meeting dates and times.

Does ADHA decide my local dental hygiene component for me?
Yes, unless on your application you state which component you want to belong to.   This can also be changed at anytime through ADHA.

I am a Registered Dental Hygienist and I have a name and/or an address change, what do I need to do?
If you move or change your name, it is important for you to contact the Bureau of Health, Professions, licensing division
You also need to contact MDHA and ADHA and tell them of the change.
